Julie White, President
Dr. Julie Stokes has been the president and lead consultant of J White Educational Consulting LLC since 2018. Dr. Stokes assists clients in desegregating data and looking at the districts' overall needs by providing a customized professional development plan for individual campuses. With the need to fill gaps, Dr. Stokes and her team also offer campuses virtual and in-person tutoring, according to HB 4545. Previously Dr. Stokes worked as an elementary teacher utilizing project-based learning and other research-based practices to achieve high overall classroom achievements. She specialized in student grouping, writing, reading, differentiation and received a grant to implement a technology initiative. Dr. Stokes has also worked as a gifted and talented teacher and a reading and math interventionist. While working as a gifted and talented teacher, she served as a testing coordinator and served on the gifted and talented board. Dr. Stokes served as a middle and high school English language arts and algebra tutor/interventionist, focusing on TSI and EOC exam success. As a campus administrator, Dr. Stokes used transformational leadership, capitalizing on the strength of her teachers to become a successful campus. Dr. Stokes lectured at Texas A&M University-San Antonio in various education classes for future educators.
Dr. Stokes specializes in teacher quality, curriculum planning, classroom management, differentiation, gifted and talented, data-driven instruction, professional development, and tutoring in her consulting work. She works with principals, superintendents, and other stakeholders to create a functioning school system that meets the needs of all learners utilizing school data to develop a personalized plan for each school. Dr. Stokes has presented professional development on various topics, including; lesson planning, systems in place, classroom management, effective leadership, and a variety of other topics. She created a teachers certification program to ensure mastery of the teacher certification exams. In her doctoral studies, Dr. Stokes created a parental involvement program, 'Under Our Wings,' to ensure all parents are given the guidance and opportunity to become volunteers and advocates in their student's education. In May 2020, she defended her dissertation on goal-setting effectiveness on teacher evaluations. Dr. Stokes holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University Kingsville, a Master of Science In Education from Walden University, and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of the Incarnate Word.
Jessica Perales, Educational Consultant
Jessica Perales, PhD is an educational consultant working in education for thirteen years. Throughout her career in education, she has worked serving students across multiple campus levels from Pre-k through graduation. As a special educator she was able to improve special education support systems where she served. As a part of her responsibilities, Dr. Perales coached teachers to have a deeper understanding of how to implement evidence based practice and differentiate classroom instruction for diverse learners receiving special education services. As a part of her work experience she was an integral part of the leadership team at the high school level. This role allowed her to create and run collaborative learning communities with teachers from a variety of content areas. She also led the team in analyzing school wide data to improve instruction and monitor student and school wide growth. Dr. Perales worked at the district level as behavior interventionist supporting campuses and their teachers in social emotional learning and creating behavior management systems utilizing the PBIS framework to improve campus climate.
While working as an educational consultant she has been able to create and implement tutoring programs that showed improved outcomes on EOC and TSI for her learners. She has also worked to improve campus culture by working with a variety of stakeholders to implement school wide PBIS. Dr. Perales received her bachelor's degree from Texas A&M-Commerce in interdisciplinary studies with a focus on K-12 special education. She later received her master’s degree in special education from the University of Texas at San Antonio. In 2019 the culmination of her studies was receiving a doctoral degree in interdisciplinary learning and teaching from the University of Texas at San Antonio. As a part of her dissertation she looked at the impact participation in a peer support program can have on social and emotional learning of participants. Dr. Perales thrives on seeing teachers she works with utilize evidence based practices to create responsive classroom instruction that allows students to reach their full potential.
